* Awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister in recognition of Pfizer Vietnam’s great efforts in the battle against COVID-19 in 2021.

HA NOI CITY, December 01, 2022,
Pfizer Vietnam, Inc. was honored to receive the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit for achievements in supporting Vietnam's Health care to combat Covid-19 in 2021 in November 30,2022.

This is the first time Pfizer Vietnam has received the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit. To achieve this recognition, Pfizer made a significant contribution in supplying Covid-19 vaccines. Besides, Mr. John Paul Pullicino Said Anthony – the former general director of Pfizer Vietnam, was awarded The Vietnam Friendship Order for his great leadership at Pfizer in supporting the Vietnamese Government to fight COVID-19 in 2021.

The previous year was a remarkable period in our fight against COVID-19. To urgently support Vietnam’s healthcare system, Pfizer has collaborated with the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Vietnam to complete delivery about 110 million doses of our COVID-19 vaccine (BNT162b2) to people as quickly as possible including about 51 million doses from the agreement with the Ministry of Health and about 60 million doses from donation. A similar effort was extended to Vietnamese regulatory and administrative body though the implementation of medical and scientific education to all related stakeholders to ensure that Vietnam met the vaccine handling requirements.

Pfizer understood that defeating COVID-19 would require the power of science and unprecedented collaboration among scientists, companies, and governments around the world. That’s why Pfizer began its collaboration with BioNTech to jointly develop a COVID-19 vaccine using BioNTech’s messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine program while simultaneously investing in our global manufacturing capabilities to supply the vaccine at scale. The goal was to bring a potential vaccine to the world and Vietnam faster, but with Pfizer’s same scientific rigor and commitment to quality and safety.

Pfizer are firmly committed to equitable and affordable access to the COVID-19 vaccine for Vietnamese patients and people around the world. They have offered COVID-19 vaccines for Vietnam at “not-for-profit” prices. In the face of the global pandemic threat, with the purpose – ‘Breakthroughs that change patients’ lives, they hope their vaccine can help to change patients’ lives in Vietnam. To date, more than 3.8 billion Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines have been shipped to 180 countries in every region of the world.

First shipment of Comirnaty arrived in Vietnam on July 07, 2021.

Receiving the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit is a great milestone in providing superb care and support to people and communities during the pandemic in 2021. Pfizer will continue to work in collaboration with the government authorities to prevent COVID-19 and other non-communicable diseases.

Darrell Oh, General Director at Pfizer Vietnam, shares: "This prestigious certificate of merit is Pfizer Vietnam's pride when our contributions are recognized by the Vietnamese government. This has important implications for Pfizer Vietnam in fulfilling our commitments with the Vietnamese government to fight the pandemic together to protect people's health in the previous year. Through Pfizer's global strategy, we work continuously towards achieving our goal of equitable access and strengthening the healthcare systems, together with COVAX- an international initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO), to reduce the burden on our healthcare system in developing countries, including Vietnam."

Looking ahead, Pfizer will continue to follow the science and closely track emerging variants to address the pandemic, and further our efforts to provide access to the vaccine. So, they are continuing to expand and enhance its manufacturing capabilities and processes, with plans to manufacture ~4 billion doses of their vaccine worldwide in 2022.
